Steam 2015 Daily Deal for July 7

Today's notable daily deal on Steam is Shadowgate (2014) and its Special Edition.  This game is developed by Zojoi and published by Reverb Triple XP.  It's a horror point-and-click adventure game, a remake of the classic game from 1987.

The game has a GameFAQs difficulty rating of Tough or 3.89 out of 5.  HowLongToBeat gives it a length of 3.5 hours for the main story completion.

It has an average Metacritic Metascore of 68, based on 20 critic reviews and Metacritic User Score of 7.1 out of 37 reviews.  This also has a Very Positive rating on Steam, with 276 positive reviews out of a total of 296, a 93% positive rating.

Shadowgate (2014) is on sale for 80% off at $2.99.  It's Special Edition upgrade DLC is 66% off at $3.39.  Shadowgate  - Special Edition, which contains both the base game and the upgrade DLC, is 75% off at $6.24.

On Steam, this is the historically lowest price for Shadowgate (2014) and its Special Edition, but not the lowest price ever.  Three weeks ago, GOG had the base game on sale at 85% off for $2.29 and the Special Edition for $4.99.  In addition, they were DRM-free.

The base game was included in the Groupees Be Mine 20 bundle.  I already own this game from that bundle, which only provided a Steam key, so I won't be buying this again.

Shadowgate (2014) runs on Windows XP and later.  It requires a minimum of a 2.4 GHz CPU and a video card with 512 MB memory.  It uses Steam DRM.  This game will not likely run on Intel GMA 950 level GPUs, such as in first generation netbooks, and may run very poorly, if at all, on Intel GMA X3100 level GPUs, so owners of old computers should not buy this.

The game has average reviews but very high user scores so it is a very good game.  This is the lowest price for a Steam key for this game, so if you a relatively new PC and prefer Steam keys, then buy this game now.  If you prefer your games DRM-free or simply want to wait for a lower price, then you can wait for GOG to put the game again on sale.
